Komori Europe, in collaboration with OMC, successfully welcomed around 24 Spanish customers to a dedicated Packaging Open House on 15 January. The event, held at Komori’s European demonstration facilities, provided an in-depth exploration of advanced packaging solutions, live press demonstrations, and the latest technologies shaping modern packaging production.
The day began with a warm welcome and networking session, followed by an official introduction to Komori and its packaging portfolio. Attendees gained insights into Komori’s approach to packaging production, emphasising efficiency, quality, and flexibility across diverse applications.
A key highlight of the morning was the presentation on Komori Packaging Solutions, featuring the GL40, GL44, and RP advance series, which led into live demonstrations of the GLX-740CC advance. During the first demo session, participants observed conventional packaging production, experiencing a full workflow from wash-up to UV printing, highlighting the press’s versatility and performance.
After lunch, the program continued with an expert session on Extended Colour Gamut (ECG) printing, presented by Christoph Thommessen from CGS ORIS GmbH. Attendees explored software solutions designed to improve colour consistency, reduce complexity, and optimise packaging workflows. This was followed by a presentation of J-throne 29, Komori’s digital inkjet press, illustrating its capabilities in short-run, high-value packaging applications.
In the afternoon, participants experienced additional live demonstrations, including a J-throne 29 walkthrough featuring packaging jobs, as well as further runs on the GLX-740CC advance. These sessions focused on UV packaging applications such as drip-off effects, solid coverage, and spot coating, demonstrating the creative and commercial possibilities enabled by Komori technology.
The event also featured a presentation of KP-Connect, Komori’s smart workflow and production management system, showing how data-driven insights enhance transparency, optimise performance, and support continuous improvement in packaging operations.
Reflecting on the successful event, Enrique Rodríguez, CEO & Sales Director at OMC, commented:
"This Packaging Open House clearly showed the strong interest from Spanish packaging printers in high-performance, flexible production solutions. Seeing Komori’s technology running live, combined with open discussions with experts, provides real value for customers who are planning their next steps in packaging investment.’’
Jeroen Hulshoff, Regional Sales Director at Komori Europe, added:
"Events of this nature are essential to demonstrate how our packaging solutions perform in real production conditions. From conventional to UV and digital applications, the GLX-740CC advance and J-throne 29 exemplify how Komori supports printers in achieving quality, efficiency, and creative freedom in a fully integrated environment."
The day concluded with an extended showroom walkthrough, a Q&A session, and networking opportunities, allowing customers to interact directly with Komori, OMC, and technical experts to discuss specific challenges and future investment plans.
The Packaging Open House received highly positive feedback from attendees, who valued the chance to see Komori solutions running live and to exchange ideas with industry specialists. The event reinforced Komori’s and OMC’s commitment to supporting packaging printers with innovative, reliable, and future-ready technologies.
